That aside, they do offer great protection as they’re always up and they allow your toddler to still get in and out of bed because one of the sides has a gap your child can crawl through.

Whether it’s on the top or the bottom of the rail depends on the type of installation, but that’s a matter of preference.

There is one more downside to them though, and that’s the fact that having rails that are permanently up will make changing sheets quite a chore.
