Now that your baby has graduated to eating solid foods, you’re also faced with picking out a high chair. To help you decide, I’ve selected the best high chairs of 2022.
A high chair for your baby or toddler is the perfect solution to the messiness that comes with feeding time and can help you keep spaghetti sauce off the floor (or the wall, or the ceiling – you get my point.)
On the surface, this seems like a pretty easy decision. I remember thinking to myself, how hard could this actually be? It’s just a high chair, right?
Turns out that’s not quite true.
Your little one is going to be using this chair for a good couple of years, so there’s a number of things to consider.
As parents, we know how much effort it takes just to keep the house in decent shape.
This is why your ideal high chair should be easy to clean and maintain.
You should also consider the size of your own kitchen or table first.
If your kitchen is on the smaller end, I’m sure you’d rather avoid a bulky model that would make it hard to move around.
Of course, there is also the question of your budget.
But whether you’re looking for a pricier or more budget-friendly option, I’ll be covering all the best high chairs of 2022!

When I was a tiny tot, my high chair was a bulky, plastic contraption that was nearly impossible to clean.
It took up an ungodly amount of space in the kitchen and wasn’t very sturdy.
Thankfully, my kids were treated to a much better and safer model that actually grew with them!
Even though it’s on the pricier end, I found the Graco Blossom 6 in 1 Convertible High Chair a great value for money since I could readjust it as the kids were growing.
There are 6 different height adjustments, so you can use it with dining tables as well as countertops.
In addition, you can recline it 3 different ways to make sure your baby is comfortable when eating or simply playing when you’re unloading the dishwasher.
Even if you’re parents of one and your family expands in the meantime (like it was our case), this model can fit two kids at once, so there’s no need to worry about purchasing an additional model.
Another great feature is the cushioned seat, which will make your kids feel really comfortable and make dinner time a little easier.
If it gets stained (and let’s be real, it will), there’s no need to worry since it’s machine washable.
It’s super easy to move around as well since it has wheels and you can roll it to any part of your house.
Assembly is pretty straightforward too.
But the best part is that you can remove the tray and pop it in the dishwasher for cleaning!
2. Peg Perego Siesta Ambiance High Chair
- Made In Italy. Comfort recline seat that fully reclines in the most comfortable resting angle for baby
- Five reclining seat positions; Nine different height positions; Footrest: Three-position, adjustable footrest.
- Easy to Clean: Eco-friendly leather upholstery is stain resistant, durable, easy to remove and can be wiped clean with a damp cloth. Inlcudes dishwasher-safe tray liner

The Peg Perego Siesta falls within the same price range, but it comes with a variety of great features that make it one of the best high chairs of 2022.
I haven’t tried this one out myself, but my sister-in-law swears by it and it’s definitely worth considering!
This convertible model can be used as a recliner for infants and then transformed into a toddler booster as the baby grows.
There are 9 different height positions, so it will fit any dinner table, and the tray can be easily removed.
The Siesta is also perfect if you’re lacking space in your kitchen because you can fold it and store it away until mealtime.
There are also wheels that allow for easy transportation.
Clean-up is pretty simple, too, since any stains can be removed with a wet wipe or cloth; the only downside is that you can’t put it in the washing machine.
But the quality is fantastic and will easily withstand your kids climbing all over it.
If you really can’t stand the thought of purchasing another big piece of baby furniture, this one’s got you covered!
3. Inglesina Fast Table Chair
- EASY & SECURE SETUP - Inglesinas Fast Table Chair fits tables up to 3.5 thick and is perfect for use at home or while traveling. The easy twist-tight coupling is fast and secure and gives your baby a seat at the table.
- PORTABLE, COLLAPSIBLE DESIGN - Complete with an integrated travel-friendly carry bag, the Fast Table Chair is easy to pack and always within reach.
- DURABLE & WASHABLE MATERIALS - Ideal for babies & toddlers between 6 and 36 months, and up to 37 pounds, the durable & washable design ensures this product will serve for years.

The Inglesina Fast Table Chair is a fantastic option for parents that want to avoid the traditional high chair or are frequently on the go.
This portable high chair only weighs 4.2 pounds and fits easily with most countertops or tables.
But its compact size doesn’t mean it’s not comfortable, as it comes with a cushioned seat that will ensure your baby’s comfort even as they throw peas all over the floor.
When it comes to cleaning, it’s safe for the washing machine and even comes with a handy pocket where you can stash toys, wet wipes, or any other baby gear.
It’s safe to use for babies as young as 6 months until they reach 37 pounds.
Even if you already have a baby chair at home, I’d definitely recommend looking into the Inglesina, especially if you travel a lot.
I was always really grossed out by restaurant high chairs and preferred to hold my kids while they ate.
I wish I had known about this model sooner, it would’ve certainly made life a whole lot easier and we would’ve eaten out more often as a family.
4. Fisher-Price SpaceSaver High Chair
- All the features of a full-size high chair in half the space!
- Infant high chair & toddler booster in one: customize with 2 height adjustments & 3 recline positions
- Dishwasher-safe seat, tray & bonus tray insert for easy cleanup
- Machine-washable seat pad & 5-point harness

If you are looking for a budget-friendly yet still flexible model, the Fisher-Price SpaceSaver High Chair should definitely go on your list.
It doubles as a chair for babies and a booster seat for toddlers and comes with two different height adjustments as well as three reclining positions.
One of the best features of this model is that it snaps into place with almost any chair, so you can use it both at home or at a restaurant, without having to say goodbye to precious kitchen space.
Since we all know very well how kids enjoy pushing food off their trays, this model comes with a deep-dish tray which makes it harder to create a mess all over the floor.
On the other hand, clean-up can be a bit difficult.
Yes, you can remove the seat cushion and put it in the wash, but it’s difficult to remove because of the numerous seat straps it comes with.
Unfortunately, if you’d like to clean a small stain only with a wet wipe or cloth, you’re out of luck, because the fabric stains easily.
But I still consider this one of the best high chairs of 2022 because it’s great value for money, it grows with your baby, and you can take it anywhere with you.
5. Stokke Tripp Trapp Natural High Chair
- A CHAIR FOR LIFE - The Tripp Trapp High Chair brings your child right up to the table. The Tripp Trapp Baby Set is best for children from 6-36 months, but the chair can hold up to 300 lbs, so your child can use it forever.
- BABY SET - The included Tripp Trapp Baby Set features a five-point safety harness and an easy-to-clean seat. When your kid outgrows the set, simply remove and adjust the back + foot support to achieve the ideal, ergonomic angle.

For those of you who cannot resist simple, sleek designs that will fit nicely with the rest of your interior, the Stokke Tripp Trapp High Chair might just be the answer to your prayers.
Yes, it’s on the far end of the expensive spectrum, but hear me out.
This model is considered a classic and with good reason.
It’s made out of high quality and sturdy European beech wood and, while it may not look like it, this model can also grow with your child and provide great support at the same time.
And when I call it sturdy, I mean it – it can handle an adult as heavy as 300 pounds!
Safe for babies as young as 6 months, it can be used for years as you can turn it into a seat for kids.
The footrests are adjustable to both height and depth, and the five-point harness makes sure your little one is strapped in nice and tight.
Since the entire model is made out of wood, it’s super convenient to just wipe down.
So what’s the catch, you might ask.
Well, for one, it doesn’t come with a cushion, so you’d have to purchase it separately and that adds to its cost.
But some parents say their kids are doing just fine without it, so it’s not a necessity.
And compared to the other models I’ve mentioned above, you can’t use it as a recliner when your baby is an infant. By the time you decide to buy the Tripp Trapp, your little one should be able to sit on their own.
6. JOOVY Nook High Chair
- Removable swing open tray with 4 adjustable positions
- Easy clean-up, dishwasher-safe tray insert and leatherette seat wipes down easily
- Compact, one-hand, standing fold with carry handle
- Non-scratch floor pads

Then there’s the JOOVY Nook High Chair, which is not as convertible as other models, but on the plus side, it’s not heavy and is easy to transport.
So the next time your parents decide to babysit your kid over the weekend, you can easily pop this into the back of your car and set it up at their place in no time.
It has a 50-pound limit but weighs only 15 and is easily foldable.
That said, your baby should be at least 6 months old for this chair and it, unfortunately, doesn’t come with a booster seat or different height adjustments.
In addition, it doesn’t have a cup holder.
The seat doesn’t recline either, so if this is a deal-breaker for you, you might want to consider another option.
On the plus size, the eating tray has a removable cover that can be washed in the dishwasher.
Also, the seat is made out of fake leather that’s simple to wipe down.
And if you need to quickly lift your baby out, the tray swings out so you don’t need to go through the entire hassle of inserting and reinserting it.
The 5-point harness keeps your baby safe and in place, and there is an additional bar to prevent your baby from accidentally sliding out of their seat.
When your little one gets a bit taller, there’s a footrest to help them develop good posture.
But the main reason why it’s on my list of the best high chairs of 2022 is that it doesn’t need any assembly! That’s right, all you need to do is get it out of the box and you’re good to go.
Plus, it’s very budget-friendly, especially when compared to the Stokke Tripp Trapp or the next model on my list, the OXO Tot Sprout High Chair.
7. OXO Tot Sprout Chair with Tray Cover, Taupe and Birch
- 3 levels of tool-free seat height and depth adjustability that grow with the child
- 5-point harness for added stability and security
- Recess in tray can contain over 7-ounces of spilled liquid and is slender for storage and stable when placed on table
- Converts to youth chair when seat is adjusted to the lowest setting and crotch-post, tray and straps are removed. Capacity: Up to 60 lbs

This high chair is actually an update of an older model, called the OXO Tot Seedling.
Equipped with a 5-point harness, this chair is a great option for babies as young as 6 months and toddlers up to 5 years of age.
Moms love it because it’s compact and comes with a removable tray that’s dishwasher-safe.
The seat padding is also easy to clean, but watch out for food finding its way below the cushions (and then inside your kid’s mouth!)
While you will find many models that come with roller wheels, the OXO Tot Sprout isn’t one of them. So if you’re used to rolling the chair around the kitchen, this might not be a good choice.
The seat doesn’t recline either, so your baby should know how to sit upright before you set it up in your kitchen.
On the plus side though, it’s very heavy and sturdy, so there are fewer chances that your child could get hurt.
8. Baby Jogger City Bistro High Chair
- Take Back Your Kitchen most compact folding high chair on the market.* Folds down in two simple steps
- No Extra Parts or Pieces tray clips to the back of the high chair when folded, so there are no additional parts or pieces to keep track of
- 4-Height Positions so child can join in for family mealtime, whether at the table or counter
- Cleaning Made Easy with machine washable removeable fabrics and a dishwasher safe tray insert

If you’re dead set on a full-size model even though your kitchen is not big enough to fit one all of the time, the Baby Jogger City Bistro High Chair lets you have the best of both worlds.
Also on the more expensive end of the price spectrum, this folding chair has 4 different height adjustments and is suitable for kids over 6 months of age.
It also comes with calf support so your baby is as comfortable as they could be.
When you fold it down it is 80 percent smaller than usual, so you can slide it in a closet or next to your fridge and forget about it until it’s time to eat.
The seat pad is resistant to stains and safe for the washing machine, but food can get stuck underneath it, so it’s something to keep an eye out for when you’re cleaning.
9. Baby Trend Sit Right High Chair
- For use by a child who can sit upright unassisted.
- Booster high chair has 6 height, and 3 recline adjustments
- Dishwasher safe tray has 3-positions, and operates with 1-hand
- Sit-Right height adjustable high chair has a 3-point safety harness
- Compact Steel Frame, free-standing fold, maximum weight is 40 pounds

To go back to budget-friendly options, the Baby Trend Sit Right High Chair is perfect for babies who can sit upright without the help of parents and can continue to use it until they reach 40 pounds.
Don’t be fooled by the price, since this model offers features that even some of the more pricey chairs don’t have.
For example, there are 3 reclining levels and you can adjust the height 6 different ways.
The frame is made out of steel, so there’s no need to worry about sturdiness and you can easily clean the tray in the dishwasher.
Unfortunately, this chair doesn’t have wheels (but neither do some of the pricier models), so sadly you cannot use it as an indoor stroller.
And the footrest is fixed, so you cannot move it up or down depending on how tall your baby is.
When it comes to safety features, it has a 3-point harness, so you should really make sure your baby can sit on its own before purchasing this model, otherwise it’s a huge safety issue.
And if you have a small kitchen, it’s best to pass on the Baby Trend chair.
10. 4moms High Chair

- Removable foam seat insert
- Dishwasher safe tray liner

- From the makers of the mamaRoo

Do you have a toddler on your hands who is now learning how to eat out of a bowl?
If you do, you probably wish you could superglue it down to the tray because your kid finds it absolutely hilarious to throw it on the ground.
Well, you can put the glue down because the 4moms High Chair promises to help you keep your kitchen nice and tidy with the help of magnets.
The magnetic tray top helps keep all the tableware in place while your toddler is eating, which lowers the risk of food spilling everywhere.
The seat is also covered by removable foam which is easily wipeable, so if you’re looking to avoid fabrics, this might be a great solution.
This model, however, does not fold.
Even though it doesn’t take up much room, this is something to keep in mind if you would like to store the chair away during the day.
It doesn’t have casters either, but it’s super light (only 15 pounds) so it shouldn’t be too difficult to move it from one area to another if you need to.
And if you’re a fan of bright colors, you should know that 4moms offers rather minimalist styles in white and black only.
Personally, I enjoy simple designs as they fit almost any interior, but this is down to your individual preferences.
11. Ingenuity SmartClean Trio Elite 3-in-1 High Chair
- Wipeable and washable design for easier cleaning

- Soft seat and foot rest add more comfort
- Easy to move around kitchen with 360° wheels. Age minimum - 6 months
- Accommodates toddlers up to 50 pounds

But for those of you who prefer a pop of color in the kitchen, the Ingenuity SmartClean Trio Elite 3-in-1 High Chair comes in a variety of colorful styles.
Plus, your wallet is going to love it since it’s super affordable.
Designed to grow with your baby, it transforms from a traditional high chair to a booster seat, and then to a stand-alone toddler chair.
The seat pad is made out of easy-to-clean foam, so you can be sure that even if your baby makes a mess, none of it will seep through the material and become impossible to get rid of.
Got two kids at the table?
No problem. You can separate the chair and put the baby in the booster seat and the older tot in the toddler chair.
Easy peasy! And it has wheels so you can roll it around.
While it is really simple to assemble, it takes up quite a bit of space and doesn’t fold, so unless you have a roomy kitchen or dining room, this might be a dealbreaker.
12. Abiie Beyond Wooden High Chair with Tray
- EZ-Seat: The High chair can be transformed to any height position to use as a Toddlers chair or as a traditional dinning chair for all ages, all within less than 20 seconds! Its economical and instantly provides an extra chair to your home when needed. No tools needed for adjustment
- Warranty: 3 year Manufacturer’s Warranty included with optional low cost 1/2/3 years extended protection plans

Sometimes spending hundreds of dollars on furniture that your child will use for only a few years seems silly. But there’s more to it than you might think!
As my daughter transitioned from being a toddler to a school-age child, I had to consider buying a chair that would be comfortable for her in the years to come.
The Abiie Beyond Wooden High Chair is a great option if you’re looking for a long-term chair for your kids.
Even if you have a larger age gap between your kids, that’s no problem, since the Abiie can be used from 6 months of age.
It’s designed in a way that makes it easy to adjust the footrest and seat to whoever needs it, whether it be a 7-year-old or a 2-year-old.
Since it’s made out of wood, it’s incredibly sturdy and will stay in place no matter how excited your kids get.
The seat straps are removable and can be machine-washed, while the waterproof cushions will keep any liquids out.
And as the chair is appropriate for a wide range of ages, there is a 3-point and 5-point harness as well.
If you were interested in the Stokke Tripp Trapp but found it too pricey, you might want to give the Abiie a shot, since it’s considerably more budget-friendly, but with many of the same great benefits.
Do We Really Need A High Chair, Though?
I understand – raising a child is no walk in the park.
Especially when it comes to financials – raising children is not cheap – it can seem like every other week there is a new piece of baby gear you absolutely need.
After the stroller, walker, and crib, not to mention all the diapers and wet wipes, it’s totally cool if the thought of more baby products seems impossible.
But this is something that you will definitely need.
First of all, such chairs offer safety while your baby is eating.
We’re all too familiar with how babies want to wiggle away during mealtime, and a chair will keep them in place.
More importantly, it’s an important step when teaching the baby how to eat on their own, without creating a mess all over your nice furniture.
But they can also come in handy when you’re home alone and need to finish up dinner, for example.
I always used to do this with my first – place her in her chair with a toy, so I can get started on dinner.
I could keep an eye out on her while knowing she couldn’t crawl away and get hurt by accident.
Of course, you should never leave your baby unattended.
They might try to crawl out of their safety harness and get seriously injured.
Most parents decide to wait until their baby is at least 6 months old before purchasing one though, especially because a majority of models aren’t appropriate for babies who are younger.
But there are convertible high chairs available that transform from an infant recliner into a youth chair, so they can last you several years.
What To Watch Out For
Safety, of course, should be the first priority when picking out a model.
A 5-point harness system is a must, especially for little ones younger than a year because it’ll prevent them from crawling out of their seat.
Wheels are a standard feature of many chairs as they make it easy to move from one part of the house to another.
Sounds great, right? Think again.
If you have more than one child, remember that at some point one child will probably use the chair to push their sibling full speed through the house.
Trust me, I speak from experience.
If this makes the hair on the back of your neck stand on end, you will be better off with a stationary model.
The model you pick should also be sturdy so that the baby doesn’t tip the chair over – wooden models are especially great since they’re so heavy.
A crotch post also helps keep your baby in place.
But apart from safety, there are a number of other factors to consider before deciding on a baby high chair, such as how much space you have.
If your home is a cozy downtown apartment, you would probably want a foldable chair that you can tuck away during the day.
Then there’s the issue of the tray.
Some models automatically come with a removable tray, but there are some that are made for the dining table where the entire family eats.
In either case, there will be a mess to clean up, but some parents prefer it to be on a separate tray.
This brings me to my next point: cleaning.
There are many chairs with seats made out of fabric, so you should double-check how easy they are to clean.
Babies drop food every which way, so many parents prefer plastic or foam seats that are simple to clean.
Leatherette seats are a particularly great option since they can be wiped down and don’t stain.
And they look pretty fashionable too!
Another factor is versatility. Some parents are happy with the basics, and there’s no problem with that.
But you should also know there are models available with adjustable height or different recline positions so that the chair doubles as a napping space.
Versatility is also tied to price.
If you would like to spend a little extra on a new piece of baby gear, then there are plenty of options to choose from – sometimes even too many.
But there are also budget-friendly models that are incredibly versatile and can last several years!
Ease of use is obviously a pretty big deal as well.
If you’ve got an excited toddler on your hands, a high chair that is difficult to maneuver is nightmare material.
The harness should snap into place easily and the tray should be simple to remove with one hand.
When To Move On From The High Chair
Sooner or later, your little one will graduate from a high chair to a booster seat.
As a rule of thumb, this usually happens around the 2-year mark, but every baby develops at their own pace so there’s no need to worry about it.
Besides, a high chair is a lot safer than a regular chair, so the longer your baby wants to stay in their special seat, the better.
Another telltale sign that your toddler is ready to join the table is when they are able to unbuckle their harness themselves.
Some kids have a natural knack for escaping and it’s a lot better to find an alternative for them.
Then there are tots who feel a bit lonely in their high chair and want to socialize at the big kids’ table.
If you don’t have a model where the tray can be completely removed, then it’s better to invest in a booster seat and move your toddler to a dining chair.
To sum up
If we’re going to be perfectly clear, babies don’t really care about their high chair, as long as it’s comfortable.
And they won’t remember it either.
It’s really down to what the parents find most practical.
On the other hand, this piece of baby gear will be a staple of your kitchen for a good couple of years, so it’s pretty important to make the right pick.
While some parents don’t mind things such as design or color, there are some who want their baby high chair to fit their interior.
This is why foldable chairs are so popular these days, since they don’t need to be on display at all hours of the day.
Your choice will also vary depending on how many kids you have.
Maybe you want a convertible model that can be used by more than one child at the same time?
This can end up saving you a lot of money in the long run, so these options are worth looking into.
There are even wooden models available that are very durable and can last a lifetime.
I know how much of a headache this decision can be, so I hope that these best high chairs of 2022 made it a little bit easier for you.
Happy high chair shopping!
