It’s not often that I write a letter to my twins on their birthday, at least not publicly, but I figured I’d share this one with all of you to show just how important it is to give these little tokens of appreciation for your kids.
This letter to my twins on their birthday will help show them this is their special day and their special time to celebrate everything they’ve accomplished thus far, and for them to continue at the same pace they’ve been going at.
Of course, it’s important not to forget to provide warm birthday messages, and the most heartfelt birthday wishes, to make it the best birthday for my little girls so far.
However, while the goal of this message is to show my love to my adorable twins, I also want to emphasize just how much small tokens of attention like these mean to kids.
You don’t have to be a professional writer or blogger to write a beautiful letter, and I’m sure mine is going to sound really corny, but what really matters is that you write it from your heart.
Words can only go so far, but when you actually do something for your kids, even if it’s something as small as a birthday letter, it’ll go a long way and become a cherished memory of theirs.
With all that said, here’s an example of what I have to say to my two beautiful twin girls on the eve of their upcoming birthday.
A Heartfelt Letter To My Twins On Their Birthday
Hey there, you two,
Happy birthday, twins! 8 years is a big deal, isn’t it? I wanted to commemorate this special day of yours by showing you just how much of a blessing from God you’ve really been, especially over this last year where you were such a big help.
Truth be told, finding out I was having twins was a big surprise. I was worried.
Taking care of one human being was going to be a big enough challenge on its own, but two? Boy, I was definitely nervous.
But, all those nerves dissipated on that wonderful day when I set my eyes upon my two beautiful twin babies for the first time.
When I got to hold you both and feel your warmth against my skin, it was something truly magical, a gift from the stars themselves.
I have cherished every moment of our time together, the good and the bad, whether I was breastfeeding you, playing with you, snuggling with you, and even when I had to change your diapers.
I appreciated all of it because no matter what sort of trouble came my way or how badly my day went, seeing you two smile always managed to make everything negative disappear, and turned those bad days into some of the best days of my life.
I’ve made sure you had a great birthday party with all your lovely friends every year, as a way of paying you back for all the innocence, bliss, and raw joy your presence radiates.
This one is no different, and I’ll make sure it’s a happy birthday, just like the rest were and will be.
You’re finally hitting the age of 8, it’s your second year in school, and you’ve made so many new friends who appreciate you for who you are, and who all come carrying their best wishes, along with the presents, to make sure you have a happy birthday.
I know the past year has been quite tough, but you’ve managed to get through it by being the best sisters you can be!
The two of you are best friends, two amazing twin sisters that nobody can separate, and who work together to help out by being your mother’s assistants whenever you can.
You were unexpected, but at the same time, the perfect gift to me as an expecting mother, and I couldn’t have asked for anything better in my life, so I want to make sure you have a happy birthday this year.
I know I might not be the perfect mom, but I try my best to provide you with the love and attention you need, while also making sure to give you some breathing room to enjoy life without me!
I might sometimes seem mean when you two get into trouble, or do something like breaking your grandma’s vase a few months ago, but know it’s not because I want to hurt you, it’s because I want you to know the difference between right and wrong.
I won’t always be there to fix things when they get broken, some things simply can’t be, and I want you to realize that.
I’ve watched you grow over the years into two bright, young ladies, and I won’t let anyone bring that into question.
Just because you’re identical twin sisters doesn’t mean you’re carbon copies of one another.
You don’t need to have the same friends, the same look, or even the same hobbies, what’s important is that you surround yourself with what you enjoy.
Other people might expect you both to act like each other’s reflection, but you’re more than that and you should be treated as two separate people.
After the last “Happy Birthday!” is said tonight, you’ll be entering a new and unknown territory, stepping ever closer toward growing up and maturing into adults.
People might change, and friends may too, but don’t be afraid to explore what life has to offer, even if it means going down different routes from one another.
After all, your future isn’t written in the stars quite yet, it’s your job to pave the way for it.
But, even if you end up disagreeing for whatever reason, remember you are each other’s best friend because your twin sister will always be there for you when others aren’t.
Other people will come and go, but you two should always make sure you can rely on each other, no matter what happens, and make sure to never forget to say “Happy Birthday!” to one another every year.
You’re both born on the same day so you can’t say you forgot it!
And remember, no matter what you do, I can guarantee I’ll always be there for you, to give you a hug or a shoulder to cry on.
You are my most favorite twins in the whole wide world (even though I haven’t given birth to any other twins… at least as far as I know!)
I know you might not understand everything mommy’s saying in this little letter, but I hope you’ll keep it so you can look back on it as a reminder of all the fond memories you have with your mom.
You two are the light of my life, my two shining stars that guide me and inspire me every day to be the best mom I can be.
After all, you don’t deserve anything less!
I love you!
And, happy birthday, my dearest little girls.
In Conclusion
In this letter to my twins on their birthday, I tried to keep it honest and simple and express how I really feel. They are my little Anna and Elsa (that’s my nickname for my twins!) and they deserve to know how much I love them.
Kids can only understand so much, but my twins keep all of my letters in a little box, and as the years go on they will understand them more and more!
Writing a simple letter doesn’t require too much effort, and the time you take away from your otherwise busy schedule to write something from the heart will mean the world to your little ones.
Make sure to start off by wishing your kids a happy birthday and letting them know how much they mean to you.
As well as happy birthday letters, you can write a sweet letter to your daughter or son on any occasion, like graduation, the first day of school, or just because you feel like it!
Feel free to decorate the letter with fun stickers, glitter, and anything else that comes to mind.
